Produced for 2007, the "Denim Monster 2" catalog is a spiritual continuation of the "Denim Monster" catalog, which came out 2 years prior. It was the first of five books that were released for 2007 by Kojima, Okayama based brand KAPITAL. It offers a glimpse into the themes and the spirit of the collection. The book includes the seasonal lookbook and a closer look at a lot of new items.
For this collection the Japanese label drew inspiration from the New York City neighborhood Hell's Kitchen. Leaning on the area's past reputation as a gritty, chaotic and violent place, Kiro Hirata and photographer Erik Kvatek present an almost entirely black and white catalog showing a harsh reality. But even in this chaos and disaster, you can still find hope and good, represented by the ballerina and the little girl in angel wings.
The entire cast for this catalog consisted of friends and family of KAPITAL.
