Title: Hooligan Sailors
Printed in Japan
Published on May 19th 2006, the "Hooligan Sailors" was one of four books that were released that year by Kojima, Okayama based brand KAPITAL. It offers a glimpse into the themes and the spirit of the collection. The book includes the seasonal lookbook and a closer look at a lot of new items.
For this collection the Japanese label drew inspiration from sailors and the swastika symbol.
There are multiple romanticized accounts of a sailor, which give us an incredibly intimate glimpse into the heart and soul of a man who is about to go sea, and when he is at sea. It reflects some hard truths about the dangers and intensity of sailing, but makes it appear very mythical as well.
The swastika is explored from a historical context. They explain that the symbol has been used by many religions and cultures for thousands of years, from the Chinese to the Vikings. This is their point of view on the symbol, contrasting what we might first think of when we see it in the west.
The condition of the book is very good. Some discoloration on the cover and backcover due to age.
